Originally text-only, often LEDs, such a s cash register readouts or late AMPS-era devices. Now generally capable of displaying symbols, or complete graphics, but of comparable size. For contemporary mobile devices, mostly found on very small devices, as external screens, or on remotes (wrist readout for Symbol ring scanner, Nokia BT headset).
